Pape Matar Sarr

Pape Matar Sarr had to bide his time for his opportunity in Lilywhite but, when it came, our 'Sarr man' grabbed it with both hands. Signed from French side Metz at the age of 18, the midfielder was loaned back to the Ligue 1 outfit for the 2021/22 campaign before being introduced to our squad the following summer. He had to wait another six months for his first appearance for the Club before he really showed his capabilities as we visited AC Milan in the Champions League round of 16 in February, 2023. The following season, he was one of the first names on the team sheet and added goals to his game - his first coming in a rip-roaring 2-0 win over Manchester United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. A two-time African Cup of Nations winner with Senegal, he has now made over 100 appearances for the Club and was part of the 2024/25 Europa League winning squad.
