Gray captains England to Under-21 Euros

Archie Gray skippered England on Friday night as they secured their spot at the 2027 UEFA Under-21 European Championships with a 0-0 draw with Slovakia.

Picking up his 19th cap as he led the Young Lions out at Stoke's Bet365 Stadium, the midfielder played the full 90 minutes as his side picked up the necessary point to deny Slovakia the chance of overtaking them in top spot.

The 2027 Under-21 Euros are set to take place in Albania and Serbia next summer with 16 of Europes brightest youth sides set to battle it out for the title.

Archie has already got one UEFA Under-21 Euros title under his belt having helped England to the title in 2025. England also claimed the title in 2023 with Academy graduate Oliver Skipp part of the Young Lions squad.

One qualifying game remains for Archie and England - a trip to the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday (6 October) - but, even with the Republic sitting second, no matter the result, it will not affect Lee Carsley's side's place in the table, with top spot already secured.

Congratulations, Archie!
