Internationals | Donley's Northern Ireland stun Ukraine, Tonali's Italy draw in France

Jamie Donley helped Northern Ireland to a famous win on Friday night as his nation continued their impressive start to the 2026/27 Nations League with a 3-0 win over Ukraine.

Heading into the game unbeaten having beaten Georgia 1-0 in their opener last week - their first ever away win in the competition - and earned a 0-0 draw with Hungary in Belfast, Northern Ireland secured another away win, and this one was comprehensive, in Slovakia as they ran out 3-0 victors.

A double from Ciaron Brown and strike from Isaac Price saw the Boys in Green and White to another three points on the road in the competition to move them top of their group.

Jamie played 77 minutes in Trnava before being substituted. He picked up his 13th international cap in the process.

Next up for Northern Ireland is the visit of Georgia on Monday (5 October).

In Paris, Sandro Tonali started as Italy secured a point at Stade De France in the Nations League with a 1-1 draw with France. The central midfielder played 62 minutes before being substituted as he collected cap number 35. Guglielmo Vicario - who is on loan at Juventus - was an unused substitute.

Next up for the Italians is the visit of Turkey on Monday (5 October).

In Bosnia, Lucas Bergvall came off the bench for the final 14 minutes as Sweden were forced to settle for a 1-1 draw with Bosnia & Herzegovina in the same competition. The point strengthens Sweden's grip of top spot in the group with a visit to Radu Dragusin's Romania on Monday (5 October).

That will be a game Radu - who is on loan at Fiorentina this season - will miss as he was sent off in Romania's 6-0 defeat to Poland on Friday night. The defender saw red just 23 minutes into the clash as he was adjudged to have brought down Robert Lewandowski in the box. Giving away a penalty as well, his side were further punished with Lewandowski converting from the spot.

Elsewhere in the Nations League, Martin Dubravka was an unused substitute as Slovakia were held to a 1-1 draw in the Faroe Islands.

In the youth groups, Archie Gray captained England's Under-21s and played the full 90 minutes as they drew 0-0 with Slovakia to secure a spot at UEFA Under-21 EURO 2027.

Luca Williams-Barnett scored the winner for England Under-19s as they ran out 2-1 winners over the USA. The forward played 73 minutes before being substituted while Malachi Hardy played the full 90.

And finally, Armend Muslika provided the assist for an Albania Under-19 equaliser as his side came from behind to defeat Lithuania 2-1 in a friendly.
