Team news | Sombath 'touch and go' for Liverpool trip

Martin Ho says that Alice Sombath will be assessed ahead of our trip to Liverpool in the Women’s Super League on Sunday afternoon (2pm UK).

The defender has yet to feature for us since arriving from OL Lyonness in July with our Head Coach confirming last week that they were managing her minutes to prepare her for the right intensity of the league.

She has since been part of full training this week but, when speaking to the media in his press conference on Friday morning, he said that he will assess whether she will be in contention for our clash with the Reds.

“We've got to see,” he told the media. “She's trained fully Tuesday and Wednesday, and we'll see what she does today. I'm not someone who's going to push people through when they're just coming back into full training in terms of after building it up, I'm not going to push it through anything.

“So, we'll make a conscious decision of what's right for her and what's right for us, but she's back in full training, so we'll see where that lies then with the squad going into the weekend."

When asked for further team news, he later added: "Jess [Naz] and Maite [Oroz] are still in parts of training, along with Lenna [Gunning-Williams].

“Alice will be touch-and-go this weekend, definitely for [Crystal] Palace. It depends how she comes through this week and what we think for the squad going into the weekend. That's probably the hard part of the job, where you have a bigger squad of 20 [to choose from]."

Clare Hunt also continues to recover from her injury.
