We've travelled to the red side of the River Trent - Forest's City Ground - since 1909, our first campaign in the top flight of English football - almost 70 years later, it hosted a defining moment in our modern history...

That was 19 August, 1978. Two new signings made their debuts that day - Ossie Ardiles and Ricky Villa.

Less than two months earlier, the pair helped Argentina win the World Cup - Ossie started the final, a 3-1 win against the great Netherlands side of the 1970s in Buenos Aires.

Now they'd swapped Estadio River Plate for the River Trent, and the start of a love affair for them both with our club and our fans that continues today.

And they made their mark at Forest - Ossie, typically superb in midfield against the European champions, while Ricky grabbed the equaliser, beating legendary England goalkeeper Peter Shilton before slotting home.
