FPL | Spurs Gameweek 3 preview

Scout will be using their expertise to provide advice and gameweek tips, which should prove useful in ensuring you win your mini-leagues.

In their third instalment of the season, Scout have identified some impressive data points from our previous Premier League clash against Newcastle United to help you stay ahead of the game on which Spurs players FPL managers should include in their team.

Best of Spurs

We had 17 shots at goal in Gameweek 2, averaging one every 5.2 minutes, with 10 different players in shooting positions.

Pedro Porro (£5.5m) had four shots, more than any other Spurs player, with one classified as a big chance. The defender also supplied four crosses.

Jan Paul van Hecke (£5.0m) also had a big chance as well as coming close, for the second gameweek in a row, to achieving the defensive contribution threshold. Defenders need 10 defensive contributions to register the two Defensive Contribution points, JP registered eight, the same as our captain Micky van de Ven (£5.0m).

Rodrigo Bentancur (£5.5m) also came close to hitting the defensive contribution threshold. Midfielders need 12 defensive contributions for the two additional points. Rodrigo missed the threshold by one, with 11 defensive contributions.

Spotlight: Omar Marmoush (£7.0m)

After signing last week, Omar made his debut for us in Gameweek 2. Our new forward had three shots in the match against Newcastle and he created three chances for his new teammates.

Only Mateus Fernandes (£5.9m) has created more chances for us this season than the Egyptian international, who was involved in 27% of the chances that we created during Gameweek 2. He also had the largest chance involvement share (shots and assists).

Omar, who was involved in 35% of the chances we had against Newcastle, made 16 Premier League appearances for his former club Man City last season. He registered three goals and three assists in the league, registering an FPL point every 13.8 minutes.

Spurs’ most popular FPL asset

Pedro is the most transferred in Spurs player this week, with his on-field match positioning in Gameweek 2 catching the attention of FPL managers.

During Gameweek 2, Pedro played on the right wing, with his average position well inside the opposition’s half.

When defenders play out of position in the attacking positions, this increases their FPL appeal.

Pedro also had four shots in Gameweek 2 with one of them classified as a big chance.

Last season he registered four attacking returns and nine clean sheets, as well as 18 Defensive Contribution points. FPL managers are seeing the potential for all these metrics to increase this season with Pedro’s current on-field positioning.

Hidden Gem

Fulham’s Gonzalo Garcia (£6.0m) could be a good option for FPL managers in search of a new forward.

The attacker has had six shots in his opening two matches. Only four forwards can better that, and they are all between £1.7m and £9.5m more expensive in FPL.
