Kevin Danso featured as Austria scored a 96th-minute equaliser to progress to the 2026 World Cup knockout stages after a dramatic 3-3 draw with Algeria in Group J.
Both sides knew a draw would see them progress but Austria - who twice led through Marco Arnautovic and Marcel Sabitzer - looked as though they were heading home when Riyad Mahrez doubled his tally on the night to put Algeria 3-2 up in the 93rd minute.
However, substitute Sasa Kalajdzic - who had been introduced in the 95th minute - headed in at the death to secure the vital point needed to send them through and spark wild scenes amongst Kevin and his teammates who became the first nation at a World Cup to avoid defeat having also conceded after the 90-minute mark.
Our centre-back entered the action on 62 minutes in Kansas City after Mahrez had just equalised to make it 2-2 and has featured in all three games for Ralf Rangnick's side at this summer's tournament, taking his caps tally to 35 in the process.
After finishing second in Group J, Kevin now faces Pedro Porro's Spain in the Round of 32 in Los Angeles on Thursday (8pm UK).
