Madders: “We need to repay the fans on Sunday – they deserve it”
James Maddison described the support from our fans at Stamford Bridge as ‘unbelievable’ and says the players will ‘make sure they’re ready to give back to them’ when we face Everton in this season’s finale at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
We all know the scenario going into the final matchday of a tough 2025/26 Premier League campaign.
We sit 17th with a two-point advantage over West Ham, alongside a better goal difference of 12. As we take on Everton in N17, West Ham are also at home against Leeds - all 10 matches of MW38 kick-off at 4pm.
Chelsea vs Spurs - James Maddison reacts to fans at Stamford Bridge
Our fans have responded to our current situation with Madders, back after recovering from ACL surgery for his first appearances off the bench against Leeds and Chelsea, telling us at Stamford Bridge ‘they just need to keep doing what they're doing’.
“They were unbelievable tonight,” said the popular playmaker after Tuesday night’s loss. “They've watched the team lose a lot of games this season, which we should take personally from the players who have played.
“Even tonight, I just thought they were brilliant. They were so loud. We need to repay that on Sunday, avoid the disastrous situation, come out of this relegation battle on the right side of the line and rebuild, because they deserve that.
“We'll be making sure we're ready to give back to them for the support that they give us, undoubtedly, every game.”
