Club update | Bethany England

Tottenham Hotspur can confirm that Bethany England will leave the Club this summer, upon the conclusion of her contract.

Bethany, 31, arrived midway through the 2022/23 campaign and made an instant impact during the second half of the season. Scoring 13 goals in 14 games in all competitions, 12 of those in the Women’s Super League, she helped us secure top-flight safety and was named our Adult and Junior Supporters’ Player of the Season in recognition of her terrific start to life at Spurs.

Appointed captain ahead of the 2023/24 campaign, Bethany led the side on our historic Women’s FA Cup run that term and played an integral role. She scored a brace in our 3-2 comeback win over Sheffield United in the fourth round, and a last-minute equaliser against Manchester City in the quarter-final as we went on to reach our first-ever FA Cup final.

A proven goalscorer in England’s top-flight, Bethany netted 38 goals during her spell in north London, with 32 of those coming in the WSL to become our all-time leading goalscorer in the competition.

Bethany’s league appearances in Lilywhite also saw her surpass the 200 mark in the WSL – becoming only the sixth player to do so - and has broken countless other records in the competition, including the first player to score over 25 goals with two different teams.

Tottenham Hotspur Women's Managing Director, Andy Rogers, said: "Bethany's leadership has shaped a defining era in the history of Tottenham Hotspur Women. Upon arrival she drove a rise in standards, professionalism and desire, and she has continued to uphold and push these values throughout her time here.

"As well as her incredible contributions on the pitch, Bethany has been instrumental in connecting with our fans to bring them closer to the team, and committing herself to our Foundation to ensure we are making a positive impact on the community around us.

"Bethany has etched her name in Spurs Women history, and can leave feeling proud of the lasting impact she has made on the Club."

We thank Bethany for her dedication, passion and leadership throughout her time at Spurs, and wish her all the best for the future.
