Bryan eager to capture the rhythm against Villa

Fri 01 October 2021, 13:07|Tottenham Hotspur

Bryan Gil says he’s enjoying the dual challenge of adapting to English football and helping us in our bid to return to winning ways in the Premier League.

A summer signing from Sevilla, the speedy attacker has impressed with a handful of top-flight cameos so far this season while starting games in the cup competitions as he gradually settles in following his move from La Liga.

He notably gave us a much-needed spark during the second half of last weekend’s north London derby defeat at the Emirates before starting Thursday night’s 5-1 Europa Conference League win over NS Mura at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ahead of our second home game of the week against Aston Villa on Sunday (2pm UK), the 20-year-old has been speaking about his aims for both himself and the team as we look to go into the October international break with some winning momentum.

What we can change is the mistakes that we made and I am sure that we will win on Sunday again.

“Here in England it is football with much more rhythm,” said the Spain Under-21 international, who has made eight appearances in our colours so far. “I have to keep adapting myself to the Premier League and to the rhythm of the matches here, but it is still very beautiful and very enjoyable football.

“I hope I can adapt myself 100 per cent, get minutes, get the confidence of everyone and contribute everything I can from my side.

“I am so happy to be here. My team-mates, the coaching staff and the Club, they have given me a great welcome and from the first day, I felt very loved. I am trying to learn the language, it is difficult for me, but I think it will be good for me to learn a new language and have this experience here in London.

“For the team and our fans, we have to stay calm. We are working on our mistakes, we cannot change what has happened (with recent Premier League defeats to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Arsenal) but what we can change is the mistakes that we made and I am sure that we will win on Sunday again.”
