Kane in contention for PFA award
Harry Kane has been shortlisted for the 2020/21 Men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year award.
The prestigious prize recognises the outstanding performer from England’s top flight.
Named the 2014/15 PFA Young Player of the Year, this is the fifth time Harry has been nominated for the top men’s award, having previously been shortlisted for both the Men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year in four consecutive terms between 2014/15 and 2017/18. In each of those campaigns, he was named in the Premier League Team of the Year.
With 37 goal contributions in the league this season, the striker has recorded his best-ever season in terms of goal involvements, eclipsing his previous best of 36 in 2016/17. His tally this campaign saw him register 23 goals and 14 assists as he topped both the goals and assists charts to claim the competition’s Golden Boot and Playmaker awards.
Four Spurs players have previously been named the Men’s PFA Players’ Player of the Year with Pat Jennings (1975/76), Clive Allen (1986/87), David Ginola (1998/99) and Gareth Bale (2010/11 and 2012/13) having claimed the prize.
For this year’s honour, Harry will be up against Manchester City's Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden and Ruben Dias, along with Manchester United’s Bruno Fernandes.
Every one of Harry Kane's 23 goals to win the 2020/21 Premier League Golden Boot.
The winner of the award will be announced on Sunday (6 June) as part of the PFA Awards, which will be broadcast from 7.30pm on the PFA’s social media channels.
