Internationals - joy for Ivan and Cuti in Qatar, agony for Richy

Our players went through all the emotions in the quarter-finals of the World Cup on Friday.

It was joy for Ivan Perisic and Cristian Romero after Croatia and Argentina progressed to the semi-finals in Qatar. However, it was agony for Richarlison after Brazil were beaten in a penalty shoot-out by Ivan's Croatia.

Cuti also went through all the drama of a shoot-out as Argentina toppled Holland.

All three of our players started in Qatar. First up, Brazil looked to be on their way to the last four when Neymar opened the scoring at the end of the first period of extra time after a tense match ended goalless at Education City Stadium.

However, Croatia levelled in the second period as Bruno Petkovic scored three minutes from time to take the game to penalties. Just as he did in the Round of 16 against Japan, Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livakovic was the hero by saving Brazil's second penalty before Marquinhos struck the post with Brazil's fourth. Croatia netted all four of their spot-kicks to go through 4-2 and will now play Argentina in the semi-final on Tuesday.

Cuti's Argentina also looked set for the semis when goals from Nahuel Molina and Lionel Messi put them 2-0 up with 17 minutes remaining. But the Dutch had other ideas as Wout Weghorst scored on 83 and then levelled from a brilliantly-worked free-kick in the last seconds of added time.

Emi Martinez saved Holland's first two penalties to put them in the driving seat and they went through 4-3.
