Kerys: “The documentary is a real eye opener”

Kerys Harrop, who signed for Spurs in July, 2020, was fascinated to learn more about the history of the Club in our brand new exclusive SPURSPLAY documentary, Broxbourne and Beyond.

“It’s really interesting for someone like me who hasn’t been at the Club for too long to see the history and the founders and who created the Club,” she said after the film was shown to the team at Hotspur Way. 

“I didn’t realise how many promotions they had to have to get to the WSL, so I really enjoyed it.”

In the documentary, we hear from key figures that have been instrumental in the Club’s evolution, having originally been formed as Broxbourne Ladies in 1985, and take an in-depth look at the elite setup of the present day, led by Head Coach Rehanne Skinner.

“Even from releasing the trailers on social media, I’ve had a lot of people asking when it’s coming out,” Kerys added. “For fans of the men’s team, who have supported the Club for a long time, they might not realise the history of the women’s team, so it will be a real eye opener for them as well.

“Where the Club came from and seeing the facilities of where it all started… it shocked me how low the team started in the leagues. It’s amazing to see the growth and I’m really thankful to those original founders and volunteers who allowed the Club to get to where it is now.”

This weekend, we travel to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea in the Women’s Super League, and the game promises to be an exciting occasion in front of a sellout crowd.

“It shows the growth of the game in one year,” Kerys said. “I’m really excited for Sunday. It should be a good game!”
