Shelina Zadorsky cut a frustrated figure following Sunday’s 2-0 defeat at home to West Ham United in the Women’s Super League.
“In the first half we had so much momentum and were attacking well,” she said. “We pressured well and were unlucky not to get goals in the first half. We just need to carry that momentum right into the second half. Our transition got a bit sloppy in the second half, but I feel like we dominated the game and deserved more from it.”
Asked how frustrating it is to see what the players are capable of in training and not getting points on the board, Shelina said:
“We show it in patches and you can see that in our play but it’s not shown across 90 minutes consistently. That’s still taking some time. We’re at a point where it just needs to be action. You just need to see it on the pitch. There’s nothing else we really need to say. We just need to show it. We’re professional footballers and we need to get results.”
Everton are the next opponents as they visit Brisbane Road on Wednesday for the 7pm kick-off.
“I’d play the game right now. It’s just about wanting to win and finding ways to win, even if it’s not pretty. It doesn’t have to be but we need to grind and find ways to get the three points.”
