Spurs v Sheffield United | Ange’s preview: “We’ll have to stay disciplined”
Ange Postecoglou feels it’s key that we stick to our principles as we take on Sheffield United in the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
Promoted automatically behind Burnley last season, The Blades may not have registered a win yet on their return to the top flight, but they’ve been in all four matches. A narrow loss on the opening day was followed by late defeats against Forest (an 89th-minute goal) and Manchester City (88th minute) before securing their first point via a 2-2 draw against Everton last time out.
Expected to line up in a 3-5-2/5-3-2 with a low defensive block and looking to counter, Paul Heckingbottom’s team will fight for everything - the manager stated in his pre-match press conference that he wants them to play ‘without fear’.
Speaking to SPURSPLAY, Ange said: “Every week is a challenge, and Sheffield United won’t be any different. Paul’s got them really well organised, defensively they make it hard for the opposition - we have to be really disciplined and make sure we stick to our principles, not get drawn away from the key components of our game, because they are very good at what they do and they’ll be coming here tomorrow looking forward to taking us on and we have to be ready for it.”
Asked in his press conference about this next challenge, Ange replied: “They're not going to give us anything or allow us any comfort during the game, so we've got to be really disciplined in not veering away from our principles or drawn away from the kind of team we want to be and the football we want to play.”
