Local school children take part in anti-racism educational event at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Local school children from across the community were joined by Club Ambassador Ledley King this afternoon as they took part in an event hosted by educational charity Show Racism the Red Card at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

The event saw 100 primary school children take part in a series of workshops to explore ways to tackle hate-crime and the importance of avoiding stereotypes.

Afterwards they took part in an interactive session and Q&A with Ledley and former England cricketer Monty Panesar before the students presented their ideas about how best to tackle racism.  

Show Racism the Red Card host a series of educational events with football clubs throughout the year using the power of football as a tool to promote anti-racism. This year’s event explored how young people can act as ‘change-makers’ whether at school, at home, or within their community.

Speaking after the event, Ledley said: “It was fantastic to speak to the students and see how committed they were to ensure no-one suffers discrimination. I was really impressed by their enthusiasm and events like today are really important in educating the next generation about the importance of anti-racism”

The young people were very engaged and passionate and we are delighted that the Club are supporting our work tackling racism through education."
