Duo shortlisted for Premier League 2 Player of the Month
Our Under-21s’ blistering start to the season has been recognised with two of our players nominated for August’s Premier League 2 Player of the Month award.
Jamie Donley and Yago Santiago have both been key to our 100 per cent record at Under-21 level so far this term – and both have been named on an eight-person shortlist for the first monthly prize of the campaign.
Jamie’s contributions last month included five assists in our first three games of the season, as well as a goal from the penalty spot in our 3-2 home win over Sunderland in the Premier League Cup.

Fellow forward Yago scored two goals in each of our first two games – a stunning 5-0 win away to reigning champions Manchester City, followed by a 4-1 home victory over Newcastle United – before joining Jamie on the scoresheet in the aforementioned cup clash.

Four games in after another round of league matches at the start of September, we’re currently top of the table with a maximum 12 points out of 12, ahead of Fulham on goal difference.
The pair are joined on the shortlist by Southampton’s Dominic Ballard, Martial Godo of Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion’s Mark O’Mahoney, the Reading duo of Sam Paul and Jayden Wareham, plus Chelsea’s Ronnie Stutter.
The nominees were selected by the Premier League Football Development Panel after club coaches proposed the best performances by opposing players throughout last month. The panel will also decide the winner, which will be announced in due course.
