Ange watches Maddison start for England

James Maddison was in action for England in their 1-0 victory over Australia at Wembley on Friday evening, as Ange Postecoglou watched on from the stands.

Midfielder James was named in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up for the friendly encounter and laid on a golden chance for Ollie Watkins with a superb through ball in the first half, only for the striker to see his angled effort hit the post after rounding the goalkeeper.

Watkins did manage to find the target in the 57th minute, turning in Jack Grealish’s drive from close range in what turned out to be the game’s only goal.

James was substituted in the 73rd minute, with Phil Foden coming on in his place.

Our Head Coach Ange was in attendance at the game, having previously managed the Australia national team from 2013 to 2017.

Earlier on Friday, Heung-Min Son was an unused substitute for South Korea in their 4-0 friendly victory at home to Tunisia.
