1 from 30 | Leicester City v Spurs
As we continue to mark 30 years of the Premier League, we take a look back at a previous visit to the KP Stadium, and a six-goal stunner from May, 2017...
Welcome back to our special feature for 2022/23 - 1 from 30 - as we continue to mark 30 years of the Premier League.
English football's new dawn kicked-off on the weekend of 15/16 August, 1992 as the FA Premier League replaced Barclays League Division One, ending a structure of Division One-Four that had been in place since 1958. Thirty years on, the Premier League is amongst the most watched and most valuable sporting leagues in the world.
In this series, we're featuring a match from those 30 years that corresponds with our next fixture - next up, it's Leicester City away on Saturday, a fixture that has thrown up goals galore in the Premier League era - no less than 123 goals in 33 matches at a rate of 3.7 goals a game! Here, we take a look back at our 6-1 win in May, 2017...
Leicester City 1-6 Spurs - 18 May, 2017
What a week this was at the end of 2016/17!
Fresh from an emotional Finale to White Hart Lane - and a 2-1 win against United, to preserve our unbeaten home record and secure second in the Premier League - we faced trips to Leicester City (Thursday, 18 May) and then Hull on last weekend of the 2016/17 season (Sunday, 21 May).
It's fair to say the players didn't disappoint! We racked up a 6-1 win at the KP, and went one better with a 7-1 win at the KCOM to finish the season on a Club-high 86 points.
Of course, the week belonged to Harry Kane. Not only did he take the honour of scoring the final goal from a Spurs player at the Lane, he followed up with four goals against the Foxes and then another hat-trick at Hull to take the Premier League's Golden Boot with 29 goals.
Heung-Min Son set up Harry for the opener at the KP, Sonny added his 20th for the season for 2-0 and after a mini revival saw Ben Chilwell pull a goal back for the Foxes, we simply ran riot in the second half. Harry headed home for 3-1, Sonny curled home a trademark effort from 25 yards for 4-1, Harry drilled in from the edge of the box for his hat-trick and then completed the scoring with a carbon-copy sixth for four goals on the night and his fourth hat-trick of 2017, soon to be five (and ended up with eight!).
Spurs: Lloris, Dier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dembele (Lesniak), Sissoko (Nkoudou), Wanyama, Dele, Son (Janssen), Kane.
