It was another dramatic encounter in the Adobe Women’s FA Cup as a penalty shootout success over Manchester City saw us progress to the semi-final for the first time in our history.

Gareth Taylor’s side took an early lead, as Mary Fowler’s deflected effort looped over Becky Spencer, but we pushed for an equaliser and, in the sixth minute of injury time, we were rewarded as Bethany England latched onto a mistake between Laia Aleixandri and Khiara Keating to slot home into an empty net.

Despite an end-to-end game of football in extra time, it ended 1-1 after 120 minutes and went to penalties, with Spencer on hand to save City’s first two penalties before Amy James-Turner calmly stepped up to score the winning spot-kick and ensure a historic appearance in the last four of the competition.
