Spurs vs Brighton | Rob's analysis, Ben's players to watch
Club commentator Rob Daly and Ben Haines, presenter of Inside Spurs, The Warm Up and The Review Show, take a closer look at Brighton ahead of this afternoon's Premier League clash at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (3pm UK).
Talking tactics with Rob
"It's always tough against Brighton. I was surprised how well they played - given the form they were in at the time - in the 4-2 win against Spurs back in December, but whatever shape they are in, it's a really tough proposition, even though they've only won two of their last eight in the Premier League. They come into this one after a 4-1 win against Palace, their rivals, last weekend, and tore them apart in the first half. They mixed it up, played three at the back, Tariq Lamptey was left wing-back and Jack Hinshelwood at right wing-back, and the pair linked up for a goal in the first half. Evan Ferguson hasn't been in scintillating form of late, but he's still very young. They're without Joao Pedro, but they do have players back, like Kaoru Mitoma, back from the Asia Cup, like Heung-Min Son. He's one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League, maybe even Europe. The thing with Brighton... you just don't know what to expect. They rotate the team so much - no team has made as many changes to their starting XI this season. They lose 4-0 at Luton one week, then hammer Palace 4-1 in their next game. One thing is for sure, they will always try to play possession-based football through the middle of the pitch, almost dare you to press them and when they are at it, there are few better teams to watch. From a Spurs perspective, I think this is the strongest squad Ange Postecoglou has perhaps ever had to pick from with Sonny and Yves Bissouma back from international duty, Pape Matar Sarr also back from AFCON, he came off the bench last week at Everton. Rodrigo Bentancur is back from his long-term injury, James Maddison and Micky van de Ven have recovered from their injuries, Gio Lo Celso has trained this week and is also back, suddenly there are proper headaches for Ange, and good headaches, at that! Even looking at the forward options - Sonny, Richarlison, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Timo Werner - I can't wait for this one!"
Ben's players to watch
"I'm buzzing for this one! As Rob said, this is the most competitive that we've seen the squad in terms of competition for places in a long time. In terms of players to watch, Pape Matar Sarr - if he starts, it will be his first since he went out to AFCON (last start was against Bournemouth on 31 December) and what a wonderful player. I do believe we've really missed him when he's been out, the sheer coverage of the pitch, his passing, he resists pressure so well. Yves Bissouma is also back, Sonny as well. In terms of Brighton, I'm interested to see what they do. Their results have been bizarre, they got bashed up by Luton, then destroyed Palace. Even our game, I felt if that game went on for another five minutes, we might have got a draw out of it. Joao Pedro is huge for them, pacy, direct, but he's injured... so I'll go for Tariq Lamptey. As Rob mentioned, he's actually played left wing-back a couple of times, if he does again, I'll be interested to see how far forward he can get, because if pushes on, that provides space for Pedro Porro, one of our most creative outlets, and Dejan Kulusevski. That's if they stick with a back three and therefore slightly more narrow. Back to Lamptey, great going forward, pace, good dribbler and he's already scored at our stadium, so certainly one to keep an eye on."
