Opposition watch | Fulham

Craven Cottage is calling for our latest London derby in the Premier League on Saturday (5.30pm UK). Here's a closer look at Marco Silva's side...

Form

It's been up and down for Fulham since we played them on 23 October. Our 2-0 victory that Monday evening triggered a run of four without a win and they were 16th in the table when they lost at Villa in November. They recovered with three wins in four, including back-to-back 5-0s against Forest and West Ham that moved them back up to 11th, but then won just one of their next seven - against Arsenal, by the way - to slip back down to 14th. Now, the Cottagers have won three of their last five, including a win against United at Old Trafford and 3-0 against Brighton last time at the Cottage. They lost 2-1 at Wolves last weekend.

Players to watch

Brazilian striker Rodrigo Muniz has five goals in his last six games. Signed from Flamengo at the start of the 2021/22 season, when Fulham were in the Championship, Muniz was loaned to Middlesbrough last term, and has now hit the best form of his time in England so far. Alex Iwobi has also bagged a couple of late, late goals recently - one to win at Old Trafford. Joao Palhinha was one of the best midfielders in the Premier League last season and much of Fulham's best work revolves around the Portugal international and his ability to win the ball back in the midfield areas - 106 tackles puts him top of that particular chart in the Premier League at the moment. Harrison Reed also buzzes around the central areas with the guile provided by Harry Wilson and Andreas Pereira. Also, look out for Antonee Robinson and Timothy Castagne trying to get into attacking areas from full-back.

Manager - Marco Silva

Appointed in July, 2021, Silva led Fulham back to the Premier League in superb style, clinching the Championship title with 90 points and 106 goals, including three 7-0 wins! His first campaign in charge of the Cottagers back in the top flight last term was no less impressive - a European challenge was on as they touched sixth place by beating Chelsea in January, but a run of six losses in eight in March and April saw them slip down to 10th, where they finished. A professional in Portugal, Silva played most games for Estoril, where he was appointed Director of Football in 2011, and then manager, leading them into the Primeira Liga. Spells followed at Sporting and Olympiacos, where he won the Greek Super League and then to England and Hull, Watford, Everton and now Fulham.

Last time we met

A 2-0 win on a Monday night in October made it nine unbeaten from the start of the season and sent us back to the top of the table. Goals from Heung-Min Son on 36 minutes and James Maddison on 54 saw us home although Fulham gave us some uncomfortable moments, none less than Joao Paulinha's header brilliantly turned away by Guglielmo Vicario at 0-0 in the first half. We were good value for the win, our fourth on the spin at home at the time, and the goals were brilliantly taken - interestingly, both coming via turnover possession from our high press.
