Vilahamn on Nildén: “I have enjoyed working with her”

Robert Vilhaman was full of praise for Amanda Nildén after her start to life in Lilywhite and her second spell in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The Sweden international made the move to Hotspur Way in the January transfer window after joining from Juventus on loan until the end of the season, with an option to make it permanent in the summer, and has become a constant presence in the backline.

The 25-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions, four in the WSL, two in the FA Women's Continental Tyres League Cup and two in the Adobe Women's FA Cup, where showed complete calmness in our last fixture with Manchester City in the quarter-final of the competition.

After the game ended 1-1 in 120 minutes, Amanda was one of the five takers in the penalty shootout and the moment didn’t faze her, picking out the top left corner in her first-ever professional spot-kick before Amy James-Turner converted the winning penalty to ensure we won 4-3.

When asked about the impact that the defender has made since joining the Club, Robert said: “I have enjoyed working with Amanda because she’s very good on the ball and skilful in many scenarios, she’s still very young as well and has more potential.

“She gives us a left-foot option at the back, we didn’t have that before and I like to have those angles, but you can see she’s taking steps in the attacking football. We know she is good defensively but we know she can do those overlaps and the crosses. You could also see her attitude in the penalty shootout, it shows she is a calm player in that moment – those are players I love to work with.”
