Defoe and ‘Sir Les’ included on latest shortlist for Premier League Hall of Fame

Jermain Defoe and Les Ferdinand have been included in the latest voting shortlist for players to be inducted into the Premier League’s Hall of Fame.

Fifteen legends are up for two places in the Hall of Fame, with a public vote now open until midday on Monday 8 April.

Currently coaching in our Academy, ‘JD’ sits proudly sixth in our all-time leading goalscoring list with 143 goals in 363 appearances in all competitions between 2004-2014. He was our record goalscorer in European competition between 2014-2019 and with 162 goals in total including spells at Portsmouth and Sunderland, he’s ninth all-time top scorer in Premier League history.

A Spurs fan, Les joined us from Newcastle United in the summer of 1997 and spent a total of 12 years here, six as a player from 1997-2003, six in coaching roles, 2008-2014. Laid low by injuries during his playing spell, he scored 39 goals in 149 appearances for us. He scored 149 goals in the Premier League in spells at QPR, Newcastle, West Ham, Leicester, Bolton, Reading and Watford, including 41 in 68 appearances as Newcastle twice challenged for the title, 1995-97.

Michael Carrick (75 appearances for us, 2004-06) and Sol Campbell (315 appearances, 1992-2001) are also on the shortlist alongside Andrew Cole, Cesc Febregas, Robbie Fowler, Eden Hazard, Gary Neville, David Silva, John Terry, Yaya Youre, Edwin van der Sar and Nemanja Vidic.
