Vicario shares his wisdom with Academy keepers

Goalkeepers from across our Academy recently benefitted from a special coaching clinic attended by Guglielmo Vicario and First Team Goalkeeping Coach Rob Burch.

The dedicated evening session, organised by our Academy coaching team, brought together goalkeepers from Under-9 up to Under-21 levels.

The young stoppers had a chance to meet with both Guglielmo and Rob, before training out on the Hotspur Way pitches with the duo observing and providing guidance.

Some of our older Academy keepers in the Professional Development Phase (Under-18 to Under-21) also lent guidance to their junior colleagues.

Guglielmo and Rob then delivered some tactical insight and hosted a Q&A session in the analysis suite at the Training Centre, where they fielded a number of interesting questions from the excited young participants.

“We’d like to extend our thanks to both ‘Vic’ and Rob Burch for kindly giving up their evening to come and help our Academy goalkeepers with their development,” said Academy Goalkeeping Coach Dean Brill. “We kept it a secret from the boys that they would be attending, so it was absolutely brilliant to see their reaction when Vic emerged onto the training pitch to greet everyone.

“The advice and guidance that both Vic and Rob gave to our young keepers was invaluable. We’ve been lucky enough to work with Hugo Lloris in the past as well, plus of course we continue to benefit from the tutelage of Pat Jennings who comes in to work with the keepers on a part-time basis, so for our boys to be able to soak in all of this wisdom and knowledge of what it takes to be an elite goalkeeper at Tottenham Hotspur, it really is immensely beneficial.”
