Olga Ahtinen and Eveliina Summanen helped Finland claim the Pinatar Cup on Tuesday afternoon after beating Martha Thomas’ Scotland on penalties following a 1-1 draw over the 90 minutes.

The two Finnish midfielders started the game as they took the lead in the first half through Oona Sevenius’ header, with Eveliina taken off in the 70th minutes while Olga Ahtinen completed the full match.

Martha grabbed the equaliser for Scotland in the 75th minute as Erin Cuthbert’s free-kick was palmed away by former Spur goalkeeper, Tinja-Rikka Korpela, but only into the path of our number 17 and she directed the ball into the bottom corner.

It was the 27-year-old’s third goal in two games during the February international break, previously netting twice against the Philippines.

That forced the game into penalties, where Olga and Martha both calmly converted their penalties, but two successive saves from Korpela sealed the Pinatar Cup for Finland as they won 5-4 in the shootout.

Elsewhere, Jessica Naz, who has trained with England’s senior team during their warm weather training camp in Spain, started for the Under-21s in their 1-1 draw with Netherlands, with the young forward completing 64 minutes on Monday afternoon.

Araya Dennis, who is currently on loan at Crystal Palace for the remainder of the campaign, came on as a substitute, replacing Maddy Earl on the hour mark, as the Under-19s came from 2-0 down to rescue a point on Tuesday afternoon.
