Brennan: “We want to push ourselves on now”

Wed 14 February 2024, 12:15|Tottenham Hotspur

Brennan Johnson has underlined the excitement in the group for the final third of the season.

The livewire forward struck late to secure victory against Brighton at the weekend, making it six wins and two draws in our last nine and five home wins on the spin in the Premier League.

That means we sit fourth in the table, a point ahead of Villa, with 14 matches remaining.

More importantly, Ange Postecoglou’s squad is almost back to full strength following the return of Heung-Min Son and Yves Bissouma from international duty in time to feature against Brighton and the likes of James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Micky van de Ven back from long-term injury.

It was put to Brennan how the players were feeling for these final 14 matches, starting with another Saturday 3pm (UK) game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Wolves this weekend.

“It's just excitement in the group,” he said. “Everyone is back, and we want to push ourselves on now. It shows today and against Brentford, when people aren’t quite at it for one reason or another, the players coming on can make such a big impact. Everyone is on board. At half-time, he was so frustrated because we came away from the way we want to play. When we score goals like that, stuff we work on day in, day out, it’s a nice feeling, the work is paying off.”
