Kit Graham on creating more history in Lilywhite: “It’s incredible”

Kit Graham, one of our longest serving players, admitted she sat down with Ashleigh Neville and Jess Naz to reflect on the journey they have been after reaching our first-ever Adobe Women’s FA Cup final on Sunday.
The trio were part of the squad to compete in our first campaign in the Barclays Women’s Super League back in 2019 and, five years later, they were celebrating on the pitch at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after we beat Leicester City 2-1 in extra time.
And it was Jess Naz who kick started a memorable afternoon in N17 as she cancelled out the Foxes’ opener in the first half with a composed finish into the bottom corner with seven minutes left to play in normal time, forcing the game into an additional 30 minutes, and we eventually secured the victory with Martha Thomas’ heading home an 118th minute winner.
Unsurprisingly, that sparked jubilant scenes at the full-time whistle in extra time as staff and players ran onto the pitch and, around an hour or two after the game had finished, Kit spoke to us to look back on a historic afternoon in N17.
“It’s incredible,” she said. “Obviously, it’s the first time for a lot of us and, being with this group, I’m so glad we got it over the line.
“We have discussed it as players after the game,” talking about the journey she has been on with the Club. “Me, 'Ash' and Jess sat down together and we asked each other ‘can you actually believe it, that we are actually here’ because in the early days we got punished by the big teams and now we are competing with them, now, we are in the final and let’s see how we get on.”
When asked about the atmosphere within Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with another brilliant crowd turning for our Women’s FA Cup clash, the 28-year-old praised the impact they had.
“The atmosphere was incredible when both goals went in, the noise was fantastic. I’m just so grateful everyone came out to support us and helped us get over the line because it was a difficult game.
“They made it really tough for us and, I know, it’s cliché that you say supporters can be the 12th player, but they really were.”
