Romero breaks Premier League passing record for the Club

Sun 29 October 2023, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Cristian Romero set a new Club record for passes completed in a Premier League game as we ran out 2-1 winners at Crystal Palace on Friday night.

Recording a 93 per cent pass completion rate at Selhurst Park, the defender completed a staggering 141 passes in the game - the most any Spurs player has in a single Premier League game since such a statistic was first recorded in 2003/04.

To put into context just how sizeable his tally of passes was in the game, the player who recorded the next highest amount of passes in south London - his centre half partner Micky van de Ven - recorded 45 less with 96 completed. Although the defender only misplaced one pass in the entire game, seeing him reccord a 99 per cent pass completion rate and pick up the Player of the Match award.

Even more astonishing is the fact that the 11 players that started for our opponents, Crystal Palace, only managed to complete 137 between them.
