Hojbjerg's Denmark beat San Marino to set up huge clash in Euro 2024 qualifying

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg earned his 71st cap as Denmark toppled San Marino 2-1 on Tuesday night to set up a huge game against Slovenia in UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying.

The midfielder put in another full shift for the Danes who were made to fight for the three points at San Marino Stadium. San Marino went into the match having lost seven out of seven but found an equaliser through Alessandro Golinucci on 61 minutes, levelling Rasmus Hojlund's opener.

There was no shock, however, as Yussuf Poulsen came off the bench to deliver the win nine minutes later.

Slovenia's 1-0 win against Northern Ireland means Denmark and Slovenia have almost identical records after eight games in Group H - six wins, a draw and a loss for 19 points each, with Slovenia just shading top spot by a single goal on goal difference.
