Wed 28 June 2023, 14:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur will face Shakhtar Donetsk in a match dedicated to the people of Ukraine at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 6 August, kick-off 2pm.

The clash against the 14-time Ukrainian champions will see the Club raise funds for Shakhtar’s charitable foundation, in support of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine as a result of the armed conflict with Russia.

The Club will make a financial contribution and an additional donation of net proceeds from ticket sales to ‘Shakhtar Social’, which has provided financial support, humanitarian and medical assistance to children and families across Ukraine since the conflict began in February, 2022.

Spurs to face Shakhtar Donetsk

• Clash against 14-time Ukrainian champions to take place at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday 6th August, 2pm KO
• Match will see the Club raise funds for Shakhtar’s charitable foundation, in support of the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Ukraine
• Fans will have the chance to see Ange Postecoglou’s side in home action for the first time ahead of the Premier League season

The match will give home fans a first chance to see a Spurs side, led by Ange Postecoglou, in action ahead of the start of the 2023/24 Premier League season.

This will be a first meeting between the two clubs since 2009, when we were defeated over two legs during Shakhtar’s successful UEFA Cup campaign that season.

Ange Postecoglou, First Team Head Coach, said: “Shakhtar is a side that delivers domestic success on a consistent basis and will provide a perfect test for us ahead of the new season.

“However, as we all know, this match represents so much more than football – it’s an opportunity for everyone at the Club and our fans to come together in showing support and solidarity with the people of Ukraine during unimaginably difficult times.

“It promises to be a special occasion, for me personally, as it will be my first time in front of our home fans, and for the world to once again see how football has the unique ability to unite people in support of good causes.”

Sergey Palkin, CEO of FC Shakhtar Donetsk, adds: “Raising awareness and supporting the many issues Ukrainians are currently facing is so important to us, so we are delighted to be able to play against Tottenham in London to support this mission further.

“We hope our charity match will attract lots of fans, including Ukrainians who fled to the UK from the war.  For us it's a great opportunity to play against one of the strongest clubs in the UK and to raise funds to support our people.”

The Club previously showed its support for Ukraine during our first home match following the outbreak of conflict with Russia, when a local youth choir conveyed a message of peace with a moving performance of Matisyahu’s ‘One Day’ on the pitch ahead of our Premier League match with Everton in March, 2022.

Tickets for the Shakhtar match will be priced as follows:
