Academy update – Dean Rastrick departs

Tue 13 June 2023, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

We can today announce that Dean Rastrick has decided to step away from his role as Academy Manager in order to pursue new challenges and opportunities.

Dean joined us in 2010, initially as Academy Performance Manager, before being appointed as the Club’s Academy Manager in July, 2017. In July, 2020, Dean assumed overall responsibility for the Academy programme.

During his tenure with us, Dean has overseen the development of a large number of players who have progressed to enjoy careers in the Premier League, European football and the wider professional game. He has also overseen a large number of individual success stories and tournament victories at home and abroad throughout the age groups, culminating in the recent Under-18 and Under-17 Premier League Cup successes. Dean has provided the Academy with a clear strategy, leadership and vision to ensure we operate at the forefront of youth development.

Dean said: “I've had an amazing 13 years at the Club and feel privileged for the responsibility and support I have been given throughout my tenure – I am immensely proud of what we have achieved. The Club has given me the opportunity to operate at the highest levels of youth football across Europe and the world and to build strong relationships with our domestic stakeholders at UEFA, FIFA, the ECA and various partners across the globe. I have been very fortunate to have worked with some incredible staff, people and young players throughout my journey and sit proudly and watch them thrive and flourish, be it here or elsewhere, as elite players, coaches or members of staff. What is also very rewarding has been watching the development of our staff and players and a sense of pride at the journeys they have been on as people, not just footballers.

“At this stage in my career, I feel it is the right time for me to move on and I will always look back at my time at Tottenham Hotspur with great pride and affection.

“It has been an honour to serve this amazing Club and I would like to thank Daniel, the board, current and previous staff and coaches, Club partners, young players and their families for all their support throughout the years, and wish the Spurs team every success on their journeys.”

Dean leaves the Club with our thanks for his dedication, expertise and with our best wishes.

We have recently strengthened our coaching and recruitment departments and will provide further details on our structure and personnel in due course.
