Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been rewarded for a fantastic calendar year by being named Denmark’s Male Football Player of the Year for 2022.
The central midfielder, 27, has continued to be an integral figure in our side over the last 12 months and has noticeably been among the goals and assists on a regular basis as well.
Indeed, he’s currently on four goals from 17 Premier League appearances in 2022/23 and memorably netted his first Champions League goal away to Marseille in November as we clinched our place in the round of 16 in thrilling fashion.
He rounded off 2022 as an ever-present member of Denmark’s side at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Voted on by the players themselves, the Male Football Player of the Year accolade is awarded in collaboration between the Danish football authority, DBU, and the country’s Players’ Association, making it the most prestigious individual honour in Danish football.
Pierre collected his trophy earlier this week at news outlet DR’s annual sporting awards ceremony in the Danish town of Herning.
He becomes the second player in our squad to earn a national award in his homeland for his endeavours in 2022 after Dejan Kulusevski collected the Guldbollen, the prize for Sweden’s best male player, at the end of last month.
Congratulations, Pierre!
