Brighton reaction | Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son

Mon 10 April 2023, 12:30|Tottenham Hotspur

Our deadly duo - now with 306 Premier League goals between them for the club - agreed about the importance of our hard-earned victory against Brighton on Saturday.

Sonny got the ball rolling with a memorable strike to bring up his century in the Premier League before Harry secured the points with a trademark clinical finish with 12 minutes remaining. The win kept impressive Brighton at bay and kept us in touch with Newcastle and Manchester United.

Here’s what they had to say…

Harry Kane

“It’s a big win, absolutely. We played against a really good side, close to us in the league, so it’s a massive three points. We dug deep when we needed to, had some good chances at times - so did they - and it was about who was going to take theirs in the second half. Thankfully, I was able to do that. We played against a really good team who have built well, playing a really good style of football and at times, we knew they would have possession and we would have to defend well. We did that and created our chances as well. We had two or three in the first half, a few in the second half and these games in the Premier League, you have to find a way to win, to grind it out and that’s what we did, so, delighted after last week (at Everton) and now we can look forward to another home game (against Bournemouth) on Saturday. Full focus is on Bournemouth, try to make sure we get that win, then we go into a week where we play three teams (Newcastle, United, Liverpool) who are all around us, so we know how big that will be.”

“It was a really important, massive three points. Look, don’t forget Brighton is a really good side. They are playing amazing, creating chances and sometimes we had to suffer, like we did in the last 10 minutes, and we did everything to get the three points. If we didn’t suffer in the last 10 minutes, we could lose the points. That’s why we won the game, and these three points could be very important for the last games of the season. We have eight games left, I want to get three points every single game so if I’m scoring, not scoring, I don’t care, it’s just important we win the games.”
