Team news ahead of Newcastle - latest on Kulusevski

Dejan Kulusevski remains sidelined for our Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (4.30pm).

The Sweden international hasn’t featured since returning from September’s international break with an injury. Richarlison is also out after picking up a calf injury against Everton last weekend. Emerson Royal is available after serving his three-match suspension in the Premier League.

Speaking to SPURSPLAY after training on Friday, Antonio told us: “Deki is not close to recovering at this moment, that’s not good news for us. For this reason, he’s not available on Sunday. Richy is improving, but needs a bit of time to recover, it’s not serious, so that’s good news for the player and for us.”

Asked about team news later in his press conference, Antonio said: “Deki Kulusevski is not available. I think we have to wait a bit of time to see him with us. It is the same for Richarlison. The other is Emerson, who comes back after a ban.

“We have another training session tomorrow to try to make an evaluation, because now, to play many games in such a short period, you have to try to check and speak to the players to understand who needs to recover, who needs to have a bit of rest to try to avoid injury. We will see tomorrow and then we'll make the best decision for the game against Newcastle on Sunday.”
