Young fan Ryley wins our Goal of the Month poll

Mon 30 May 2022, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

It was a special moment when young supporter Ryley Keys scored a penalty at half-time in the north London derby at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium a few weeks ago, having once been told he’d never walk.

Diagnosed with cerebral palsy after a premature birth, the brave youngster built himself up to the point that he was able to kick a football and, after a special visit from Ben Davies and Joe Rodon at his home recently, he was invited to attempt a spot-kick on the pitch at our sold-out stadium on the night of the north London derby on 12 May.

Not only did he manage to find the net past legendary former goalkeeper Pat Jennings during the half-time interval of our memorable 3-0 win, but his strike has now officially been chosen by fans as our Goal of the Month for May!

Ryley’s effort took a whopping 70.5 per cent of supporters’ votes, beating Heung-Min Son’s stunning second goal at Norwich City on the final day of the season, which won the attacker the Premier League’s Golden Boot. That goal took 16.1 per cent of the votes, with Sonny’s curler into the top corner in our 3-1 home win over Leicester City coming in third with eight per cent.
