Spurs v Morecambe – how to follow, team news, key information

Sat 08 January 2022, 22:45|Tottenham Hotspur

We take our first steps in this season’s FA Cup on Sunday afternoon as we welcome League One side Morecambe to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (kick-off 2pm UK).

We’ve never played the Shrimps before in any competition and they arrive in north London languishing in 21st place in their division, although they did secure a remarkable 4-3 home win over Doncaster Rovers last time out.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of the third round tie...

How can I watch the game?

Sunday’s game gets underway at 2pm at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium – tickets are on general sale now. Please remember to familiarise yourself with the ‘Plan B’ entry requirements if you’re attending the stadium in person for the game.

The match hasn’t been selected for live broadcast in the UK but if you’re supporting us from overseas, check out the worldwide broadcast listings to see if the game is being shown in your area.

Radio commentary will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live, while our live Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app provides you with minute-by-minute text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats.

For all the live build-up and reaction from inside the stadium, you can also tune in to N17 Live, our exclusive pre- and post-match show. It’s available to watch for free online, across social media and on the app from 1.15pm UK.

Alternatively, join our Watchalong on Twitch from 1pm UK.

How will the teams line up?

Heung-Min Son is set to miss out with a muscular injury, but Eric Dier and Ryan Sessegnon are available again after illness and injury respectively.

Steven Bergwijn and Cristian Romero remain out.

Morecambe’s assistant manager Diarmuid O’Carroll will be in charge of the visitors after their manager, our former player Stephen Robinson, tested positive for COVID-19.

The Shrimps have our former Academy striker Jon Obika in their squad, while they could give debuts to new loan signings Jacob Bedeau, a defender from Burnley, and Trevor Carson, a goalkeeper from Dundee United.

Teams can name up to nine substitutes each and use five of them. There will also be no replays, so the tie must be settled on Sunday with extra time and penalties if required.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

John Brooks will referee Sunday’s tie, assisted by Marc Perry and Natalie Aspinall.

Gavin Ward will be the fourth official, with Michael Salisbury and assistant Timothy Wood in charge of VAR.

We’ll play in our 2021/22 home kit of Lilywhite shirts, navy shorts and navy socks, with our goalkeeper in green.

Morecambe will play in red shirts with a diagonal white sash across the front, with white shorts and red socks. Their keeper will be in all yellow.

How can I get the matchday programme?

Be sure to pick up the official matchday programme at the stadium on Sunday, priced at the usual £3.50. It’s available from all Tap Inn counters around the stadium and external pods situated at Paxton House, the South Podium, Park Lane Square and Worcester Avenue.

Supporters not attending the match can order a copy online here, for delivery direct to your door.

Japhet Tanganga is the subject of this weekend’s main interview, while Morecambe manager Robinson reflects on his time as a player at White Hart Lane during the 1990s.

What will the weather be like?

It’s due to stay dry in north London for the game. There’ll be sunny intervals and a fresh breeze, with temperatures at around seven degrees.
