Chelsea v Spurs – how to watch, team news, key information

Wed 05 January 2022, 11:00|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s Carabao Cup semi-final time as we head to Stamford Bridge to take on Chelsea in the first leg of our last four tie on Wednesday (kick-off 7.45pm UK).

Both sides have been on all-Premier League runs to get to this stage – the Blues have beaten Aston Villa, Southampton and Brentford while we’ve seen off Wolves, Burnley and West Ham.

The game also marks a first return to Stamford Bridge for Antonio Conte, who managed Chelsea between 2016 and 2018.

Here’s all you need to know ahead of the match...

How can I watch the game?

Wednesday’s game will be televised live in the UK on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event, kick-off 7.45pm.

Radio commentary will be available on talkSPORT and BBC Radio 5 Live, while you can also follow the action via our live Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app, which provides live text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats.

Alternatively, join our Watchalong on Twitch from 6.45pm UK.

How will the teams line up?

Cristian Romero, Ryan Sessegnon and Steven Bergwijn remain sidelined for us.

Head Coach Antonio was also asked if there were any COVID-19 cases in the squad in his pre-match press conference on Monday. He responded: “We are checking a couple of situations, we’ll see.”

Romelu Lukaku could return for Chelsea along with fellow striker Timo Werner.

However, Trevoh Chalobah is out injured and fellow-centre back Andreas Christensen is doubtful.

Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is also absent after reporting for Africa Cup of Nations duty with Senegal.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Wednesday’s referee will be Craig Pawson, assisted by Constantine Hatzidakis and Neil Davies.

Kevin Friend will serve as the fourth official, with Jarred Gillett and assistant Lee Betts on VAR duty.

Both sides will wear their home kits, Chelsea in blue shirts, blue shorts and white socks as we line up in Lilywhite shirts, navy shorts and navy socks.

Chelsea’s goalkeeper will play in orange, with ours in green.

What will the weather be like?

It’s set to be a dry and bright day on Wednesday, but it’ll still feel chilly. Temperatures are expected to be around four degrees when the game begins.
