Team news ahead of Leicester - Reguilon to miss out

Fri 29 April 2022, 14:45|Tottenham Hotspur

Sergio Reguilon will miss our Premier League clash against Leicester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday (2pm).

Antonio Conte mentioned ahead of last week's draw at Brentford that the defender was struggling with a muscle problem. 'Reggy' was named on the bench but remained an unused substitute, and now he'll miss out against the Foxes.

Speaking to Spurs TV after training on Friday, Antonio told us: "Sergio is out. He has a groin pain. In the last period he didn't have a lot of training sessions. I said this before the game against Brentford. Now, it's important for him to try to find a solution and better for him to stay out.

"It's a pity, especially at the end of the season, we need all the players. Wing-back is a specific role, and now we've lost Matt Doherty and Reguilon. That's not good news, but we have Emerson Royal and Ryan Sessegnon, they are improving a lot, also Dejan Kulusevski can play as a wing-back."

We announced earlier this week that Oliver Skipp has undergone surgery on his pubis problem and will miss the rest of the season. Matt and Japhet Tanganga are also out for the campaign with knee injuries.

Asked about Skippy at his press conference, Antonio added: "I have spoken with the doctors and they said to me that the surgery went well. For sure, Oliver will be ready for pre-season, for next season."
