Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that Eric Dier, Ryan Sessegnon and Heung-Min Son have remained in England after the squad touched down in France this afternoon for our UEFA Europa Conference League group stage opener against Stade Rennais on Thursday evening (5.45pm).

South American trio Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Davinson Sanchez also miss out as they are still isolating in Croatia after playing in World Cup qualifiers for Argentina and Colombia respectively.

Gio, Cristian, Davinson, Ryan and Sonny were sidelined for Saturday's loss at Crystal Palace. They were joined by Steven Bergwijn, also injured on international duty, and then Eric picked up an early injury that forced him off inside 15 minutes at Selhurst Park.

There was positive news on Steven, however, and he has travelled with the squad to France.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference at Rennes’ Roazhon Park, Nuno told the media: “I can tell you the players who didn’t travel - Sonny, Dier and Sessegnon. That’s the team news.”

Asked if the injured trio would be back for Sunday’s clash against Chelsea, Nuno replied: “We don’t know. They are improving, day by day they are better, but alongside the South American players, we still have to assess them.”

As for Stevie, Nuno added: “He’s better. He has travelled with us. He trained yesterday and today. He’s much better.”
