October international fixtures for our women’s players
Wed 20 October 2021, 09:54|Tottenham Hotspur
With four wins out of five in the Barclays FA Women's Super League and a winning start to our Continental League Cup campaign secured, our women’s players will now head into their second international break of the season, with several of them set to be on duty for their countries over the next two weeks.
For our European players, the qualifying campaign for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup continues at pace with Wales and Finland seeking to build on perfect starts in their respective groups.
Youngster Morgan Rogers, who plays for our WSL Academy side, has been called into the senior Wales squad alongside regulars Josie Green and Esther Morgan as their nation heads to Slovenia before hosting Estonia in Group I. Finland goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela, meanwhile, is in line to earn her 100th senior cap with upcoming games away to Georgia and then at home to Republic of Ireland in Group A – she's currently on 99 appearances.
Elsewhere, two of our players could face each other across the Atlantic as Ria Percival and New Zealand travel to play Shelina Zadorsky’s Canada in a friendly double-header, with games scheduled in Ottawa and then Montreal.
Back-to-back friendlies are on the agenda for a number of players during this window – South Korea and their captain So-hyun Cho will face the reigning world champions USA twice, first in Missouri and then in Minnesota, while Becky Spencer's Jamaica will meet Costa Rica in consecutive games in Florida. Kyah Simon’s Australia will be taking on Brazil in two matches Down Under, while Rosella Ayane could feature for Morocco in a friendly fixture away to Spain.
In South America, youngster Silvana Flores – another talented player in our WSL Academy side who has been named as a substitute in senior squads for us in recent weeks – is in the Mexico squad for their friendly against Argentina, having made her senior debut against Costa Rica in February of this year.
On-loan goalkeeper Eleanor Heeps, meanwhile, is in the England Under-19s squad for their trio of European Women’s Under-19 Championship qualifiers against Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland and Switzerland.
