Ola! Lucas and Carlos join local school for virtual Portuguese lesson

Tue 30 March 2021, 16:00|Tottenham Hotspur

Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius recently appeared as special guests at a virtual Portuguese lesson with students from Duke’s Aldridge Academy – a secondary school located directly opposite Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Due to the current circumstances, the players were unable to attend in person. Instead, Lucas and Carlos, both from Brazil, took part in a video call with a Year 8 class, helping to teach the students Portuguese words and phrases.

During the session, the group had the chance to hear Lucas and Carlos talking about South American culture including carnival, famous celebrities and the must-visit holiday destinations in Brazil. The students had a special surprise for Carlos ahead of his 26th birthday – they had prepared birthday posters and sung Happy Birthday to him.

The class also had the opportunity to ask the players some questions of their own.

One student commented: “It was an amazing experience being able to talk to both Lucas and Carlos. It was interesting to hear more about South American culture and they were great Portuguese teachers. We hope Carlos liked his birthday surprise!”

Speaking after the session, Lucas said: “It was great to join the students today and teach them some Portuguese. After such a tough year, it was nice to see students back in the classroom learning together. Hopefully in the lesson they learned something new about Brazil and South American culture.”
