Internationals – Kane brace helps England into Euro 2020 semi-final against Hojbjerg’s Denmark

Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will face each other in the semi-finals of Euro 2020 after winning their quarter-final ties with their respective nations on Saturday.

England captain Harry was superb as the Three Lions thrashed Ukraine 4-0 in Rome, converting Raheem Sterling’s early pass to open the scoring before heading Luke Shaw’s cross in through the legs of goalkeeper Heorhiy Bushchan five minutes into the second period to make it 3-0.

Harry Maguire had nodded home England’s second moments before that, with Jordan Henderson netting his first international goal to round off a great night’s work for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Harry, who was denied a perfect hat-trick when his rasping left-footed shot was well saved by Bushchan, was withdrawn after 73 minutes, replaced by Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

England will be back at Wembley on Wednesday (8pm) to take on Pierre’s Denmark, after they reached the last four with a 2-1 victory over Czech Republic in Baku earlier on Saturday.

Midfielder Pierre played the full 90 minutes as first-half goals from Thomas Delaney and Kasper Dolberg proved enough for victory, despite Patrik Schick pulling one back for Czech Republic after the break.

Sadly, Toby Alderweireld’s journey at the tournament came to an end on Friday evening when his Belgium side lost 2-1 to Italy in Munich. Nicolo Barella and Lorenzo Insigne secured the Italians’ progress with two fine goals, with Romelu Lukaku replying from the penalty spot for Belgium. Toby played the full match.
