Jose Mourinho is delighted to take us back to Wembley - but he’s not ‘jumping around’ quite yet.

Moussa Sissoko’s early header and a typically clinical finish from Heung-Min Son in the second half saw us home 2-0 against Brentford in the Carabao Cup semi-final at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday evening.

We will play either City or United in the final at Wembley on Sunday 25 April* - the Manchester clubs face off in their semi-final on Wednesday night.

“We work for ourselves, for our pride, for our own jobs, but at the end of the day, we work for the fans,” said Jose. “So, I’m really happy because we managed to give them that happiness, but finals without trophies are sad days, finals with trophies are amazing, eternal days in our memory."

We were in control but for one scare at 1-0 in the second half as Ivan Toney headed home from close range only for VAR to step in and rule the effort out for offside. Otherwise, we had more possession, more attempts on goal, more attempts on target and were good value for the win against a progressive Championship side who had already accounted for four Premier League teams on their run to the last four.

That’s why I’m not jumping around, because to jump around we need to win that match in April

Jose added: “It was not brilliant when we had the ball, we have to do better, but we were very solid, defensively we were very compact. The offside goal comes from a corner and I always say when the ball is in the air, you cannot press... big guys, three giants, difficult second ball, we were lucky that was offside.

“They had one penetration in the box where Davinson Sanchez was very clever not to touch the opponent, apart from that, we were always in control.

"We didn’t play very well with the ball, we have to have more quality in the first touch, decisions, sometimes we play backwards when we have open lines to play in front and into the pockets. So, we have to do better, but semi-finals are there to win, not to play beautifully.”
