Wolfsberger AC v Spurs – how to watch, team news, key information

Wed 17 February 2021, 17:31|Tottenham Hotspur

Our UEFA Europa League campaign gets back into gear this week as we face Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC in the first leg of our round of 32 tie on Thursday evening (kick-off 5.55pm UK).

While the match is technically an away game, due to COVID-19 regulations in Austria, we’ll be playing at the impressive Puskás Aréna in Budapest, Hungary, before hosting the return match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium next Wednesday night.

Wolfsberger are currently sixth in the Austrian standings, nine points behind third-placed LASK, who we faced in the group stage of this competition earlier in the season.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of the match...

How can I watch the game?

Thursday’s match is being televised live in the UK on BT Sport 2. You’ll find full worldwide broadcast listings here.

Kick-off is at 5.55pm UK, 6.55pm local time in Budapest.

Remember, you can also follow the action during the game on Club channels via our live Match Centre, complete with live text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats. The Match Centre is available on the Spurs Official app and here on tottenhamhotspur.com – all completely free.

How will the teams line up?

Full-backs Serge Aurier and Sergio Reguilon are still sidelined through injury and will miss the trip, along with midfielder Giovani Lo Celso for the same reason.

Centre-back Joe Rodon is ineligible to play in the Europa League so will also remain in London.

Head Coach Jose Mourinho confirmed on Wednesday that four players from our Academy – striker Dane Scarlett, right-back Marcel Lavinier, left-back Dennis Cirkin and central midfielder Jamie Bowden – are part of the squad ahead of the game.

Midfielders Eliel Peretz and Mario Leitgeb are doubtful for Wolfsberger as they continue to recover from injuries.

Teams are able to name up to 12 substitutes each in this competition, of which five may be used.

Why is the match being played in Hungary?

Last week, UEFA announced that Thursday’s match has been switched to the new Puskás Aréna, home of the Hungary national team.

Wolfsberger had initially been set to host the game at Worthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, but COVID-19 regulations in Austria mean we can no longer play there.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Thursday’s match officials are from Turkey – Ali Palabıyık is the referee, assisted by Ceyhun Sesigüzel and Serkan Olguncan.

The fourth official will be Alper Ulusoy.

Wolfsberger will play in black-and-white halved shirts with white shorts and white socks, meaning we’ll be in our all-yellow third kit on Thursday night.

Wolfsberger’s goalkeeper will be in all red, with ours in green.

What will the weather be like?

It’s forecast to be a bright, mild day in Budapest on Thursday, with temperatures at around seven degrees at kick-off.
