It’s two goals in as many games for Lucas Moura, but the Brazilian attacker was in no mood to celebrate after the way things panned out at West Ham on Sunday afternoon.

Finding ourselves two goals behind just moments into the second half, we pushed hard for a route back into the game and found a lifeline when Lucas headed in Gareth Bale’s corner with a little over 25 minutes left.

But try as we might – we had 20 attempts at goal compared to four for the Hammers – we couldn’t find an equaliser and slipped to our fifth defeat in six Premier League matches.

For Lucas, who also scored a mesmerising solo goal against Wolfsberger AC in the Europa League on Thursday night, there was a real feeling of frustration at full-time.

We still have a lot of games to play, but we can’t drop more points.

“The feeling is bad – we are disappointed because I think we deserved more,” he said. “I thought we did well, but it wasn’t enough.

“The two goals we conceded were our mistakes and that’s why the feeling is bad. I think we showed good character, the response was good.

“This kind of game makes me feel bad. I’m always happy, but when I lose a game like this, especially when we deserved to win, the feeling is bad. The most important thing is to feel that you tried to do everything on the pitch.”

Asked about the stats behind the chances with our tally of 20 attempts in mind, Lucas continued: “Yes, it’s unbelievable, but we need to score more. We need to take the opportunities, and to score. We created on many occasions. Let’s learn from this game and do better in the next one.

“We still have a lot of games to play, but we can’t drop more points.”
