Spurs v West Brom – how to watch, team news, a new rule, snow forecast, key information

Sat 06 February 2021, 15:18|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s our second home game of the week on Sunday as we take on West Bromwich Albion at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, kick-off 12pm UK.

The Baggies arrive in north London languishing in the relegation zone, 10 points from safety ahead of the weekend’s action.

Here’s all you need to know ahead of the game, including details of a new rule being trialled across the Premier League and beyond from this weekend...

How will the teams line up?

Harry Kane, Sergio Reguilon, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele are all still sidelined through injury for us.

Head Coach Jose Mourinho said: “I think from all the guys injured, Reguilon, Dele Alli, Lo Celso, Harry Kane... I think the first one to be back will be Harry.”

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is in line for his West Brom debut after joining the Baggies on loan from Arsenal on deadline day. Another loan arrival, Turkey midfielder Okay Yokuslu, could also feature.

Grady Diangana will be assessed – he’s been out for five weeks with a hamstring problem.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Stuart Attwell is scheduled to be the referee for Sunday’s match, assisted by Harry Lennard and Mark Scholes. Lee Mason will be the fourth official.

We’ll be in our usual home kit – white, navy, white – with our goalkeeper in bright green.

The Baggies will be in red and yellow striped shirts with red shorts and yellow socks.

Their keeper will be in pale green.

What new rule is being introduced from this round of matches?

From this weekend, concussion substitution trials are being introduced across the Premier League, Barclays FA Women’s Super League, FA Women’s Championship and Emirates FA Cup.

With player welfare the priority, the protocols will allow a maximum of two concussion substitutes to be used per team, with the opposition side able to use the equivalent number of changes. The additional concussion substitutions may be made regardless of the number of substitutions a team has made already.

If the referee stops a match for a potential concussion injury to a player, the medical staff of that player’s team will enter the field of play to make an assessment while the tunnel doctor will review video footage of the incident. The team doctor will have as much time as is required to make an on-pitch clinical assessment of the player.

If there are clear symptoms of concussion, or the video provides clear evidence of concussion, the team will be permitted to apply to replace the player with an additional permanent concussion substitution. The substituted player will not be allowed to return to the field of play.

Find out more about the rules around concussion substitutions via the Premier League’s website.
