Spurs v West Ham – how to watch, team news, key information

Wed 22 December 2021, 10:30|Tottenham Hotspur

It’s our last game before Christmas on Wednesday night – and what a game it is!

We take on West Ham United at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the quarter-finals of this season’s Carabao Cup, with a place in the last four of the competition up for grabs (kick-off 7.45pm UK).

We’ve seen off two Premier League sides to make it this far in the form of Wolves and Burnley, while the Hammers have got the better of both Manchester clubs, United and City, to reach the last eight.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of our latest London derby...

How can I watch the game?

Wednesday evening’s match is being broadcast live in the UK on Sky Sports Football and Sky Sports Main Event, kick-off 7.45pm UK.

Radio commentary will be available on talkSPORT 2, while our live Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app provides you with minute-by-minute text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats.

For all the live build-up and reaction from inside the stadium, you can also tune in to N17 Live, our exclusive pre- and post-match show. It’s available to watch for free online, across social media and on the app from 7pm UK.

Alternatively, join our Watchalong on Twitch – head to twitch.tv/tottenhamhotspur from 6.45pm UK to comment on and debate all the action with hosts Rebekah and Matt.

If you’re supporting us from overseas, check out the worldwide broadcast listings to see if the match is being shown in your area.

Remember to familiarise yourself with the ‘Plan B’ entry requirements if you’re attending the stadium in person for the game.

How will the teams line up?

We’ll be without the services of Ryan Sessegnon for the game on Wednesday night.

The left wing-back produced an impressive performance from the start in Sunday’s Premier League draw with Liverpool, but was forced off in the latter stages.

Antonio Conte confirmed on Tuesday that Ryan picked up an injury and won’t be available to face the Hammers, with the England Under-21 international joining defender Cristian Romero on the sidelines.

In good news, the squad is now free of COVID-19 cases, giving Antonio a number of options to ponder.

As for West Ham, they’re reported to have “one or two” cases of COVID-19 in their squad, while Vladimír Coufal serves a one-match ban following his red card against Arsenal in the Premier League last week.

Also sidelined are Kurt Zouma (hamstring tendon), Angelo Ogbonna (knee) and Ryan Fredericks (groin), but full-backs Ben Johnson (hamstring) and Aaron Cresswell (back) are closing in on their respective returns.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

Chris Kavanagh will referee Wednesday evening’s tie.

He’ll be assisted by Dan Cook and Peter Kirkup, with Robert Jones as the fourth official.

We’ll play in our 2021/22 home kit of Lilywhite shirts, navy shorts and navy socks, with our goalkeeper in green.

West Ham will play in claret and blue shirts with white shorts and white socks, with their keeper in yellow.

How can I get the matchday programme?

Be sure to pick up the official matchday programme at our last game before the festive season – inside is our popular annual ‘My First Spurs Christmas’ feature where we speak to a number of this year’s new signings from across the men’s and women’s teams about how they usually celebrate at Christmas time and what’s traditional in their home countries. Goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini is the subject of our main interview.

Wednesday night’s programme is priced at the usual £3.50. It’s available from all Tap Inn counters around the stadium and external pods situated at Paxton House, the South Podium, Park Lane Square and Worcester Avenue.

Supporters not attending the match can order a copy online here, for delivery direct to your door.

What will the weather be like?

After a bright start to the day, it’ll be cloudy and breezy in north London on Wednesday evening, with temperatures at around four degrees.
