Spurs v Southampton – how to watch, team news, key information

Wed 21 April 2021, 09:59|Tottenham Hotspur

Just over two years after taking charge of the first ever football match at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when our Under-18s took on Southampton, Ryan Mason leads the team out for his first game as Interim Head Coach against the same club this evening (6pm UK).

We’re seventh in the Premier League standings, five points off the top four, while the Saints are in 14th spot.

Here’s all the key information you need to know ahead of the match...

How can I watch the game?

Sky Sports Premier League and Sky Sports Main Event will be screening the match live in the UK this evening, kick-off 6pm, while radio commentary will be available on talkSPORT 2.

Full worldwide broadcast listings are available here.

Remember, our live Match Centre here on tottenhamhotspur.com and the Spurs Official app is the perfect way to follow the action live, wherever you are in the world, with live text and audio commentary, goal alerts and stats at your fingertips.

Plus, don’t forget to tune in to N17 Live, our exclusive pre- and post-match show from inside the stadium. It’s available to watch for free online, across social media and on the Spurs Official app from 5.15pm UK time.

Alternatively, you can join our Watchalong on Twitch – head to twitch.tv/tottenhamhotspur from 5pm UK to comment on and debate all the action with hosts Rebekah and Matt.

How will the teams line up?

Right-back Matt Doherty is back in the frame after injury, but left-back Ben Davies and goalkeeper Alfie Whiteman remain out, while Harry Kane is taking it “day by day” after limping off against Everton last week.

Southampton could welcome back Takumi Minamino, who was cup-tied for last weekend’s FA Cup clash with Leicester City. Oriol Romeu and Will Smallbone are long-term absentees, while Michael Obafemi has returned to training but is considered unlikely to start this evening.

Who is the referee and what colours will the teams be playing in?

David Coote will referee this evening’s match.

Adam Nunn and Nick Hopton will be his assistants, with Darren England in place as the fourth official.

We’ll be in our usual home kit, with our goalkeeper in green.

Southampton will play in all red with a white sash across their shirts, with their keeper in yellow.

How can I get the matchday programme?

As usual, printed copies of our official matchday programme are available to order and have delivered direct to your door.

Although the deadline to order your copy and have it in your hands in time for kick-off has now passed, you can still order yours online for delivery as soon as possible. Carlos Vinicius is the subject of the main interview in this evening’s edition, priced at the usual £3.50. Order yours in the post now.

What will the weather be like?

There’ll be sunny intervals and a moderate breeze in north London at kick-off time, with temperatures set to be around 12 degrees.
