Theo Foley RIP

Sat 27 June 2020, 10:34|Tottenham Hotspur

We were saddened to hear the news of the passing of our former coach Theo Foley. He was 83.

Theo, a hugely popular figure in the game, was part of manager George Graham’s coaching staff at White Hart Lane between 1998 and 2001.

He had been Graham’s assistant during Arsenal’s title triumph of 1989, having managed Charlton Athletic and Northampton Town. He also coached at Millwall, Queens Park Rangers and Fulham as he brought incredible experience at all levels throughout the game.

Dublin born, he was an outstanding defender as a player and was a full Republic of Ireland international. His clubs included Burnley, Exeter, Northampton and Charlton.

With Spurs he continued to coach the first team squad and also looked after our Reserve team on match days.

He brought passion, warmth and understanding in all that he did, always worked with a smile and was highly respected and well liked by the players.

We extend our condolences to Theo’s family and friends at this sad time.
